Ban Tai, Koh Samui.
Quiet stretch of the north coast between Bang Por and Maenam, around Phra Lan pier.

On the north coast, between Bang Por and Maenam, Ban Tai offers a calm beach and a residential, village atmosphere. The beach is long and uncrowded, with tranquil water for much of the year and views across the water to Koh Phangan. Around the Phra Lan pier, the area has kept a simple, authentic character, with a few seafront restaurants and cafés. In the morning, the beach belongs to walkers and joggers; in the evening, people gather to watch the sun go down in the west.
It is a practical choice for those who want to live here all year round: Ban Tai benefits from everything Maenam has to offer, but without the traffic of the main road. For everyday life, Maenam's shops, restaurants, night market and day markets are a few minutes away, as are the international schools and the immigration office. The quiet streets behind the beach are home to family villas, and a few plots on the seafront or on higher ground offer wide, open views out to sea.
In terms of access, Maenam is just 5 minutes away, Fisherman's Village and Bophut 15–20 minutes, and the airport around 20 minutes. The Lomprayah pier, with boats to Koh Phangan, Koh Tao and the mainland, is very close by, and from Maenam the “shortcut” mountain road gets you to the south of the island far faster than driving all the way round.
The market here is varied: lofts and small developments a few minutes from the beach, family pool villas on large plots, and a handful of exceptional sea-view villas. Ban Tai is becoming increasingly popular, both with buyers who want to live here and for holiday rentals, with good rental potential.
