Bophut, Koh Samui
The area

Living in Bophut.

Bophut is the most sought-after address on Koh Samui. Here on the north coast, facing Koh Phangan, lies the island's golden triangle, centred on Fisherman's Village: a former fishing village of wooden houses that has become the most charming heart of Samui, with its boutique hotels, its beach clubs and its restaurants right on the sand. The bay is calm for much of the year, and the hills behind it offer wide views over the sea and Koh Phangan, from sunrise to sunset.

Everything visitors look for is right on the doorstep, and day-to-day life for residents is just as easy. On 4 evenings a week, Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday, the main street of Fisherman's Village becomes a pedestrian market; the Friday market, the largest of them, is one of the most popular weekly events on the island. Supermarkets, cafés, gyms, clinics and international hospitals are all a few minutes away, and several international schools are located in the neighbourhood or just next to it, which also makes Bophut a sought-after address for families.

In terms of access, the airport is 10–25 minutes away by car depending on where you start, Chaweng and Central Samui shopping centre 10–20 minutes, and Maenam around 10 minutes. The Bangrak piers, very close by, serve Koh Phangan and Koh Tao, and the Big Buddha is just a few minutes to the east.

The market covers every budget: apartments in residences a few minutes from the beach, family pool villas in quiet streets, large sea-view villas on the hillsides, and building plots both near the sea and up in the hills. This is the area where everyone wants to be: a solid location for resale as well as for holiday rentals, with good rental potential throughout the year.
